Commissioning marks progress on Thameslink

26 May 2011

On Monday 25th April at 03:45 hrs, Invensys Rail successfully commissioned Stage 1A of the Thameslink project at Kentish Town, the last of the signalling enablement stages to have been completed in preparation for Phase 1 of the programme which is to be commissioned in September 2011.

Representing the first contract milestone for Thameslink Key Output 1, the commissioning works were completed over the Easter weekend and included alterations at West Hampstead Signalling Centre, Kentish Town relay room, various existing apparatus cases and the commissioning of new signals, track circuits and associated track equipment in the Kentish Town area.

The possession was also used to install two of the thirteen Relocatable Equipment Buildings (REBs) which are being deployed on the project, both of which had to be positioned in difficult locations. The first one (TL6) was installed on the night of 22nd April, whilst the second (TL4) was installed on 24th April onto a raised platform utilising a road crane.  Power and data cables for the scheme were then installed, as well as further Phase 1 equipment.
