Published in October 2008, Invensys Rail commissioned Credo Group who reviewed over 70 publications from government bodies, academics and the transport industry to compare carbon emissions from road, air and rail for identical journeys.
Key Findings
- Rail is already the best transport solution for the environment with a much lower carbon footprint than both road and air transport
- Rail can quite easily reduce its already low carbon footprint by half over the next 20 years
- Signalling and control has a major role to play in delivering quick wins.
